Star-Studded Entertainment Line-Up Announced for Soweto Derby

Football supporters attending Saturday’s Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will have more than just the action on the pitch to look forward to, as a star-studded entertainment line-up has been arranged to entertain fans before kick-off.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to take place at FNB Stadium on October 31, 2026, with thousands of supporters expected to gather for another chapter in one of South African football’s biggest rivalries.

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has provided details about the Fan Zone activities, giving supporters an opportunity to enjoy music and entertainment as they prepare for the match.

According to the department, the Fan Zone will be located within the FNB Stadium precinct, opposite Gate A. Access will be available exclusively to supporters who have valid match-day tickets.

The entertainment area will open at 10:00 on Saturday morning and close at 15:00, giving fans several hours to enjoy the activities before the derby gets underway.

The arrangement is expected to add to the excitement surrounding the fixture, which attracts attention from football supporters across South Africa and beyond.

The Soweto Derby is known for its passionate atmosphere, colourful displays and strong rivalry between the two clubs. However, the excitement often begins long before the players walk onto the pitch, with supporters gathering around the stadium to celebrate their teams.

The Fan Zone is expected to provide an additional attraction for those arriving early, allowing them to enjoy the entertainment while sharing the build-up with fellow football lovers.

For the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the activities also provide an opportunity to combine sport and entertainment during one of the country’s most followed football events.

Supporters planning to attend should take note of the access arrangements and operating hours to avoid missing out. Only match-day ticket holders will be permitted into the Fan Zone, and the facility will close at 15:00.

With the two Soweto giants preparing for another important meeting, the entertainment programme is expected to contribute to the festive atmosphere surrounding the occasion.

While Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will battle for bragging rights on the pitch, supporters will have an opportunity to enjoy a full match-day experience before the action begins.
