Zimbabwean referees have landed a series of top appointments for upcoming continental club and international fixtures.
The appointments were announced by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on Monday 7 September. ZIFA said it was pleased that local officials had been recognised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Leading the list is a quartet that will take charge of the CAF Confederation Cup tie between ASAS Djibouti Telecom of Djibouti and Zed FC of Egypt at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on 12 September. Lawrence Zimondi will be the centre referee, assisted by Tafadzwa Nkala and Polite Mthunzi Dube, with Thabani Ruzario as Fourth Official.
On the same day, another all-Zimbabwean team will officiate in the CAF Champions League. Owen Manenda will referee the match between Lijabatho FC of Lesotho and C.F.F.A of Madagascar at Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg. He will be assisted by Luckson Mhara and Edgar Rumeck, with Brighton Chimene as Fourth Official.
Chimene will remain on continental duty later in the month. He will take charge of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 qualifier between Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on 25 September, assisted by Mhara and Rumeck, with Manenda as Fourth Official.
Zimbabwe will also be represented off the pitch. Norman Matemera has been appointed Match Commissioner for two assignments in Zambia.
He will oversee the CAF Champions League fixture between Power Dynamos and Al Merrikh in Ndola on 12 September, and the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027 qualifier between Zambia and Togo at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on 29 September.
