Davido and Burna Boy Reconcile? Reported Encounter Sparks Speculation

Davido and Burna Boy have had a complicated relationship, moving from friendship and musical collaborations to public disagreements that have kept fans questioning where they stand with each other. Although both singers have previously spoken about their differences, their relationship has continued to attract attention, with occasional developments bringing their past friendship back into the conversation.

The latest speculation emerged on October 23, 2026, after reports claimed that the 2 musicians encountered each other at a colleague’s bachelor party in Lagos. Claims that they shook hands and allegedly held a private conversation have raised fresh questions about whether the singers are ready to put their differences behind them.

Their reported encounter has also brought renewed attention to their earlier disagreements, Burna Boy’s public declaration in December 2021 that they had settled their differences and Davido’s subsequent comments about their relationship.

October 23, 2026: Davido, Burna Boy reportedly meet at Zlatan’s bachelor party

Davido and Burna Boy

Fresh speculation emerged on October 23, 2026, following reports that Davido and Burna Boy encountered each other at Zlatan Ibile’s bachelor party in nightclub in Lagos ahead of his wedding to his baby mama Davita Lamai on Saturday October 24, 2026.

The reports claimed that the musicians shook hands, prompting questions about whether they had decided to move beyond their past disagreements. The alleged encounter attracted attention because the singers had previously announced a settlement, only for subsequent comments and online exchanges to revive discussions about their relationship.

A separate account attributed to Instagram blogger Cutie Juls claimed that the 2 musicians went into an upstairs room for a private conversation while their entourages waited outside.

The reported meeting has generated fresh interest in the possibility of reconciliation, particularly given Davido’s earlier comments about their former friendship and Burna Boy’s December 2021 announcement.

Neither singer has publicly confirmed that the alleged private conversation took place or announced a new agreement following the reported encounter.

Davido, Burna Boy’s early friendship

Davido and Burna Boy shared professional connections before their relationship became a subject of public controversy. Their early association included musical collaborations, with Davido featuring on Burna Boy’s song Trumpet, released in 2013. Burna Boy also appeared in the music video for Davido’s hit Dami Duro.

Their earlier connection makes the subsequent disagreements particularly notable, as both musicians went from having professional ties to becoming the subject of repeated speculation about their relationship. As their careers grew, their public interactions, music releases and social media activities attracted increasing attention.

The exact circumstances that caused their relationship to deteriorate have never been fully established. However, incidents involving their music, online exchanges and people around them contributed to speculation that the singers had fallen out.

By 2020, discussions about their relationship had become more prominent, with several incidents fuelling the perception of an ongoing feud.

February 2020: Burna Boy’s actions fuel speculation

Discussions about the relationship gained attention in February 2020 following social media activity and reports about Burna Boy’s response to Davido’s music.

During one reported incident, Burna Boy appeared to signal to a DJ to change a song by Davido that was playing. The moment attracted attention among fans who were already questioning the state of the relationship between the 2 singers.

The incident added to the growing speculation about tension between them, although it did not establish the precise reason for any disagreement.

As further incidents emerged, the reported moment became part of the timeline frequently mentioned in discussions about their feud.

September 2020: Davido releases FEM

Davido released FEM in September 2020, and the song quickly became associated with speculation about his relationship with Burna Boy. Some listeners interpreted its reference to “Odogwu” as a possible message directed at Burna Boy, who is widely associated with the nickname.

The interpretation generated discussions about whether Davido had used the song to address his colleague. Davido later spoke about the speculation during an interview with Ebuka Obi Uchendu on BlackBox.

He explained that FEM was not specifically about Burna Boy and described the relevant line as an invitation for the singer to call him. Davido also expressed frustration about what he perceived as hostility among fellow musicians, arguing that Nigerian artists should work together rather than against one another.

During comments in December 2021, Davido recalled the disagreement and said, “We’re supposed to be running this together.”

His remarks reflected his desire for unity within the music industry and offered insight into his position on the disagreement. Nevertheless, the song remained one of the most prominent releases associated with speculation about their relationship.

December 28, 2020: Davido says he might leave music

On December 28, 2020, Davido posted a message on Twitter, now known as X, saying, “I go leave this music for una.”

Written in Nigerian Pidgin, the statement meant that he would leave the music industry to others. The tweet attracted considerable attention because it came amid rumours of a confrontation involving Davido and Burna Boy in Ghana.

The timing prompted speculation about whether the message was connected to the reported disagreement. However, Davido did not explicitly identify Burna Boy as the reason for the post.

The tweet became another significant moment in the timeline of their public disagreements, particularly as conversations about tension among leading Nigerian musicians continued to circulate online.

December 2020: Davido calls for unity

Around the same period, Davido spoke about his relationship with Burna Boy and Wizkid, saying he believed the musicians should not be fighting.

He maintained that Nigerian artists could work together to advance the music industry rather than allow disagreements to divide them. In comments about the situation, Davido said, “I am not fighting them.”

He also encouraged the musicians to come together, expressing frustration about the tension surrounding their relationships.

The statements suggested that Davido was open to resolving the disagreement and moving forward. However, there was no immediate confirmation that he and Burna Boy had reached an agreement.

December 2020: Reports of a nightclub confrontation in Ghana

Reports circulated in December 2020 alleging that Davido and Burna Boy had been involved in a confrontation at a nightclub in Accra, Ghana.

The story attracted attention because it emerged amid existing speculation about tension between the musicians. Videos and accounts circulated online, adding to the discussions about their relationship.

However, the details of the alleged incident remained disputed, and neither singer’s camp confirmed the reported altercation at the time.

The incident became one of the most frequently mentioned episodes in accounts of their feud, particularly because of its timing alongside Davido’s social media posts and the controversy surrounding FEM.

December 31, 2021: Burna Boy announces a settlement

Burna Boy made one of the clearest public statements about his relationship with Davido on December 31, 2021, when he used his Instagram Stories to announce that they had settled their differences.

He wrote, “FYI, I have no issues with Davido. We good now.”

The statement suggested that Burna Boy was ready to move beyond their disagreements and put the tension behind them. He followed it with another message calling for unity among musicians as the new year approached.

Burna Boy wrote, “2022, all of us must love ourselves by force.”

His announcement became a major moment in the story because it provided a direct statement about the state of their relationship. Rather than leaving the public to interpret their interactions, Burna Boy explicitly said that he no longer had an issue with Davido.

However, the announcement did not necessarily mean they had restored their former friendship or returned to communicating as frequently as they once did.

April 8, 2023: Davido discusses their relationship

Davido discussed his relationship with Burna Boy during an interview on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning on April 8, 2023.

He recalled how close they had once been, saying, “Me and Burna used to be mad close. Very very close.”

Davido explained that the relationship had changed and that they no longer communicated as frequently as they did in the past. He also revealed that Burna Boy had called him and that they had spoken, although they had not enjoyed many meaningful conversations recently.

When asked about resolving their differences, Davido indicated that he was open to it. He also spoke about the importance of unity among Afrobeats artists and their shared opportunity to advance Nigerian music internationally.

His comments provided an update following Burna Boy’s December 2021 announcement. They suggested that the 2 musicians were on good terms, although their former closeness had not returned.

April 2023: Davido says their teams contributed to the disagreement

During the same period, Davido suggested that the disagreement had involved people around the musicians rather than originating entirely between the 2 artists.

He said, “Funny enough, it wasn’t even us. It was our people [team members].”

The statement offered another perspective on the tension, suggesting that disagreements involving their respective teams had contributed to the situation.

Davido also recalled that Burna Boy contacted him during a difficult period following the death of his son, Ifeanyi, in October 2022.

The account indicated that the musicians had maintained some communication despite the public speculation surrounding their relationship. It also reinforced Davido’s position that the disagreement was not necessarily a straightforward personal dispute between the singers.

February 2024: Burna Boy’s exchange with a Davido fan

The feud returned to public discussion in February 2024 after Burna Boy exchanged remarks with a user on X during conversations about the Grammy Awards.

The user criticised Burna Boy over his Grammy losses and used a photograph of Davido as their display picture. Burna Boy responded with the remark, “The actual Joke is in your Display picture.”

Because the user’s display picture featured Davido, the comment was interpreted as a swipe at the singer. The exchange quickly revived discussions about the relationship between the 2 musicians.

Burna Boy subsequently made another post suggesting that his phone had been taken away from him.

The incident attracted attention among fans who had continued to follow developments since the earlier disagreements. However, the exchange involved a social media user and did not establish that Davido and Burna Boy had directly argued with each other.

April 8, 2025: Davido says he no longer has a personal relationship with Burna Boy

Davido offered another update during an interview with The Breakfast Club on April 8, 2025, when he discussed his relationship with Burna Boy and Wizkid.

He said, “I don’t have a personal relationship with them. I did at some point.”

The statement marked a change from his April 2023 comments, when he had described himself and Burna Boy as being on good terms despite communicating less frequently.

By April 2025, Davido was describing their relationship as no longer personal in the way it had once been. His remarks suggested that the closeness he remembered from their earlier years had not been restored.

He also argued that the global growth of Afrobeats extended beyond the 3 artists frequently described as the genre’s Big Three.

His statement did not necessarily mean that he and Burna Boy were enemies, but it indicated that their former personal relationship had changed significantly.

Have Davido and Burna Boy finally settled their differences?

Davido and Burna Boy have previously indicated that their relationship improved after their disagreements, but their subsequent statements have shown that their former closeness did not fully return.

Burna Boy announced on December 31, 2021, that he had no issues with Davido. On April 8, 2023, Davido said they were on good terms but no longer communicated as frequently as they once did.

By April 8, 2025, Davido was describing his relationship with Burna Boy as no longer personal in the way it had been in the past.

The latest reports from October 2026 have revived questions about whether the 2 musicians have reached another understanding. Their alleged encounter at Zlatan Ibile’s bachelor party has become the latest development in a relationship marked by friendship, disagreements and previous attempts to move forward.

For now, the reported handshake and private conversation have renewed speculation about their relationship, while the question of whether they have reconciled again remains unresolved.
