Air Zimbabwe has introduced scheduled flights to Masvingo ahead of this year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, which will be held in the city from 9 to 12 September 2026.
The airline, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, is operating scheduled services on the Harare–Masvingo and Victoria Falls–Masvingo routes from 5 to 12 September 2026.
This is meant to provide convenient travel options for exhibitors, buyers, delegates and visitors attending the Expo, while boosting visitor movement and economic activity in Masvingo Province during the tourism showcase.
According to a statement issued by Air Zimbabwe on Saturday, 5 September 2026, the service is being operated using an ATR 42-500 aircraft. The inaugural Harare–Masvingo flight carried at least 48 passengers.
The airline said the strong turnout on the first flight shows significant interest in the route and highlights the importance of improved air connectivity to the host city.
This is the first time in years that Masvingo has had scheduled commercial flights, and the timing is linked to the Government’s decision to take the country’s premier tourism expo outside Harare and Bulawayo to Masvingo – home to the Great Zimbabwe National Monument and other key heritage sites.
Air Zimbabwe said launching the flights and hosting the Expo in Masvingo shows it is committed to improving local air travel and making it easier for people to get to major national events and destinations.
“The initiative also supports broader national efforts to grow the tourism sector by enhancing connectivity to provinces with significant tourism, heritage and investment potential,” the airline said.
To make the service possible, Air Zimbabwe said it has worked closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), the Airports Company of Zimbabwe and National Handling Services to ensure that the necessary infrastructure and operational support are in place for the smooth running of the flights.
The Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo is Zimbabwe’s flagship tourism fair, bringing together local and international exhibitors, buyers and investors to showcase the country’s tourism products.
