The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of 25 victims of a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 28th August 2026 at around 2030 hours at the 132 kilometre peg along the Harare–Masvingo Road, Chivhu.
The death toll has risen to 28 following the death of one of the injured passengers who was admitted at Chitungwiza General Hospital.
The names of 25 victims who have been identified by their next of kin are as listed:-

The remaining three victims were burnt beyond recognition and their identities have not been conclusively established. CID Forensic Department has obtained forensic samples from the three unidentified remains for analysis to enable the identification process to be concluded. The Police will only release the identities of the three victims once the DNA forensic examination has positively confirmed their identities.
