The carrier is expanding account management and offering new benefits for travel flexibility.
Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is taking its investment in business travel a step further. The legacy carrier announced Wednesday that it would introduce enhancements to SkyMiles for Business Elite, which is the highest tier of its business loyalty program.
The news follows earlier investments, such as enabling passengers to transfer the value of unused tickets and offering a dedicated account team for Business Elite travelers. The airline said the enhancements reflect its commitment in “helping businesses capture, manage and maximize the value of their travel spend.”
Delta held its annual SPOTLIGHT event for SkyMiles for Business Elite members and agency partners on Wednesday, where it disclosed that the new enhancements are focused on two *“key priorities.” * First, the carrier plans to deliver support that is even more proactive. The second priority is to increase flexibility when there are changes to business travel plans.
To be more proactive with its support, Delta said it is expanding its SkyMiles for Business Solutions service for every elite traveler through annual outreach and customized Account Reviews. Early next year, the carrier plans to allow unlimited name changes and service points, which will provide travelers with additional options to retain their ticket value. It is also designed to help businesses to manage servicing needs and reallocate travel funds across their organizations if needed.
Instead of Account Reviews triggered by inquiries or support requests from the traveler, every elite customer will now receive annual outreach from their account team to schedule a review, according to Delta. The review gives travelers a detailed look at program performance, such as earning activities or strategies for redemption opportunities. It also assesses utilization of benefits and other ways travelers can obtain additional value through the SkyMiles for Business program.
Travelers can also reportedly tailor their account reviews to the priorities of their business or company, while account team members can provide *“individualized recommendations and guidance” *by leveraging account insights.
“Delta designed the experience to complement agency relationships, with agency partners encouraged to participate alongside customers,” the carrier said.
Along with the enhanced support, Elite travelers will also have unlimited access to name changes beginning in early 2027. While the service does come with a fee, it will give companies more flexibility to reassign travelers and make changes to plans should alterations to business needs occur. This could be in the case of meetings or projects changing, prompting reassignments of travelers. The fee for name changes has the possibility of being waived through Delta’s new Service Points benefit. The allocation of service points can be used for tickets and flexibility in travel itineraries. While it includes name change fee waivers, the service points also allow for advance purchase waivers, overbooking requests, and other servicing needs, according to Delta.
Agency partners would typically rely on their own Service Point budgets when it came to customer service requests. However, with Delta’s new enhancements, Elite travelers are granted their own dedicated allocation. Partners can submit requests via Service Points on behalf of business travelers through Delta’s Global Sales Solutions team.
“Service points provide customers with greater control over how flexibility benefits are applied across their travel program,” the airline explained.
The latest investments build on previous benefits that were introduced. In 2025, Delta launched the ability for business travelers and agencies to transfer unused eligible tickets. The move simply allows customers to transfer the value of the ticket to a Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP) account for future travel use.
SkyMiles for Business is open to small and medium enterprises across the US and Canada. Members can earn miles on Delta-operated flights and on its partners, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Aeromexico. The program became a Magellan Awards Gold winner in 2025 for overall Best Small Business Airline. It was the program's second consecutive win since launching in late 2023.
