Morocco elected Vice-President of 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention

Morocco, represented by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the International Organizations in Vienna, Azzeddine Farhane, was elected Vice-President of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice on behalf of the African Group, as the event kicked off on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

The other members of the Congress Bureau, with the exception of the President, were also elected during this meeting, which is organized by the United Arab Emirates through October 1st under the theme “Accelerating Crime Prevention, Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law: Protecting People and the Planet and Achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Digital Era,” with the participation of ministers, government officials, experts, and academics from 119 countries.

The Congress, which constitutes the world’s largest gathering of policymakers, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in crime prevention and criminal justice, aims to strengthen dialogue and international cooperation in fields related to crime prevention, criminal justice, and the rule of law.

It also seeks to review successful experiences in implementing comprehensive crime prevention and criminal justice policies and strategies to reinforce the rule of law at both national and international levels.
