<div class="text-long"><p><span>JOHANNESBURG - Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is back in the Johannesburg magistrates’ court on Tuesday for his fourth attempt to secure bail.</span></p><p><span>Mogotsi has been in custody since his arrest in May over allegations that he staged an assassination attempt in Vosloorus.</span></p><p><span>He faces charges of perjury, defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of a firearm.</span></p><p><span>His latest bail bid comes after the State raised further concerns during his previous appearance, alleging that the North West businessman had planned to escape custody by disguising himself as a Correctional Services official.</span></p><blockquote><p><span><strong>READ | </strong></span><a href="https://www.enca.com/news-top-stories/brown-mogotsi-denies-escape-plot-fears-evidence-could-be-planted"><span><strong>Brown Mogotsi denies escape plot, fears evidence could be 'planted'</strong></span></a></p></blockquote><p><span>The Department of Correctional Services is expected to provide the court with a report on the alleged escape plot.</span></p><p><span>However, Mogotsi’s lawyer, Makau Sekgatja, has rejected the State’s claims.</span></p><p><span>Speaking to eNCA, Sekgatja said there was no evidence to substantiate the allegation that his client had planned to flee custody.</span></p><p><span>“Our client is denying the allegations,” Sekgatja said.</span></p><p><span>He added that the defence had not been given any evidence supporting the State’s claim.</span></p><p><strong>Read more: </strong><a href="https://www.enca.com/news-top-stories-videos/dcs-report-alleged-brown-mogotsi-escape-plot"><strong>DCS to report on alleged Brown Mogotsi escape p</strong>lot</a></p></div>
