The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has verified the authenticity of the degree held by its member Ahsan Bhoon following a petition filed by Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar, according to sources.
Sources said Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, who heads the Judicial Commission, received Safdar’s petition raising objections over Bhoon’s degree and subsequently had the relevant educational credentials verified.
The commission confirmed the degree’s authenticity, the sources said.
Commission extends Sindh High Court bench tenure
According to sources, the Judicial Commission decided to extend the tenure of the Sindh High Court’s constitutional bench by one year.
The extension was discussed during the meeting chaired by Chief Justice Afridi, with members considering the continued functioning of the constitutional bench.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah attended the meeting as new commission members.
The meeting covered judicial matters, including the extension of the Sindh High Court’s constitutional bench, while the verification of Bhoon’s degree followed the objections raised in Safdar’s petition.
