Gaba breaks silence on Anita Mabedi ‘romance’ rumours

A kiss meant to last seconds turned into a rumour that followed Malawi star Gabadinho Mhango for years, now the Flames striker has finally broken his silence on what really happened between him and Anita Mabedi.

Gabadinho has dismissed rumours that he was in an intimate relationship with Anita, the daughter of former Flames coach Patrick Mabedi.

Appearing on Jaakev Show on Tuesday, the 32-year-old striker said the 2023 claims were sparked by a viral clip showing him kissing Anita on the chin.

He explained that Anita was promoting his social media and that he only engaged briefly with her, resulting in the kiss captured in the footage.

Gaba added that while he described the kiss as not a “French kiss,” many Malawians misinterpreted the moment and linked it to his drop from the national team, during the time when Patrick Mabedi was head coach.

The striker insisted the allegations are false, stating that he has never been romantically involved with Anita, whom he considers like a sister.

Gaba, a father of two also revealed that Patrick Mabedi was the one who took him to South Africa, and that he used to live at their home.
