Wycliffe Chimwendo to celebrate three decades of music

Blantyre-based seasoned gospel musician Wycliffe Chimwendo has been on the low in recent times but he set to make a comeback that will culminate into a celebration of his 30th anniversary later this year.

The ‘Total Lie’ and ‘Afafaniza’ star said Thursday he is reeling to go and put on the market new songs and at the same time offer live performances.

“I feel energized to make this come back and more so that I am looking at celebrating my 30 years in music. I am thankful to God for the walk I have made, ministering His words,” Chimwendo said.

Chimwendo will hold the 30th anniversary celebration at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on December 20 2026.

As a headliner during the anniversary, the veteran musician is expected to share the stage with other old-timers in the gospel music arena and they include Kenya-based Chrissie Kamthunzi, Bishop Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango, Ndirande Anglican Voices and Lloyd Phiri and the Happiness Voices.

Chikondi Chapambana who is managing the anniversary as well as Chimwendo said people should brace for the best of the veteran musician.

“He is making this comeback rebranded and so, there is so much to see and at the same time he is looking forward to continue to minister the word of God through music,” Chapambana said.

Chimwendo debuted with *Wanga Ndi Yesu *in 1996 before dropping six more albums and they include *God is on My Side, Sizobisa, Ndani Akufuna Yesu *and Yesu Wapambana.
