Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is a doubt for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after picking up an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 win over Istanbul Başakşehir on Friday.
Osimhen opened the scoring for Galatasaray in the 16th minute at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, but was forced off in the 33rd minute after appearing to sustain an injury.

The goal was Osimhen’s sixth of the 2026/27 season.
His early withdrawal will raise concerns for Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, with Nigeria set to begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign against Madagascar on September 23.
The Super Eagles will then travel to Guinea-Bissau four days later for their second Group C fixture. Osimhen’s potential absence would be a setback for Chelle.
Nigeria will be keen to make a strong start to the qualifying campaign, with only one team from the group guaranteed a place at the 2027 AFCON.
