Morocco international Bilal El Khannouss is expected to remain at VfB Stuttgart after talks over a possible move to Newcastle United failed to produce an agreement.
The 22-year-old midfielder was open to returning to the Premier League but was not sufficiently convinced that Newcastle’s sporting project represented the right step in his development, according to German sports magazine Kicker.
A transfer to the English club now appears unlikely as the summer window approaches its deadline, despite recent contact between Newcastle and the player’s representatives.
El Khannouss could still leave if Stuttgart receives a compelling last-minute offer. Otherwise, he is expected to continue his career with the Bundesliga club.
The Atlas Lion joined Stuttgart on loan from Leicester City in September 2025. A purchase obligation was subsequently activated, making the transfer permanent and tying him to the German club until June 2030.
