Pupkewitz building MegaBuild branch in Grootfontein

The Pupkewitz Group has begun construction of a larger, more modern MegaBuild branch in Grootfontein, a project expected to improve access to building materials and create jobs in the town.

According to a company statement, the new branch is under construction along the B14 road to Otjinene, opposite Otjivanda Mall, and is expected to open in mid-2027. The company said the new branch will better serve Grootfontein and surrounding towns, where demand for building materials continues to rise.

“Once complete, the branch will provide contractors, farmers, homeowners and businesses with easier access to quality building materials, hardware and expert advice closer to home,” the statement said.

The new branch will feature a larger shop, a wider range of products, dedicated trade counters, improved parking, a drive-through loading area and additional storage space.

The company said these improvements will make it easier for customers to purchase building materials and collect their orders.

GAIA Construction, a Grootfontein-based company, has been appointed as the main contractor. The project is already creating employment for local contractors, suppliers and labourers.

“Once operational, the branch is expected to create additional permanent roles in sales, logistics, administration, stock management and customer service,” the statement said.

The company said new employees will receive training to enhance their product knowledge and customer service skills.

Pupkewitz said the investment reflects its confidence in Grootfontein, which continues to grow as an important farming and business centre in northern Namibia.

“The continued investment in projects of this scale reflects its enduring belief in Namibia’s potential and its commitment to playing a meaningful role in the country’s economic growth and development,” the statement said.

The company added that the project will support the local economy by creating jobs during construction and after the branch opens.

Construction is underway and expected to be completed by mid-next year.
