National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has asked aspirants in the party’s constituency executive elections to accept the outcome and work together to strengthen the party.
He was speaking at the Ketu North Constituency Delegates Conference at Weta in the Volta Region on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah explained why he has stayed away from constituency elections across the country. He did not want to sway delegates or look as though he favoured any candidate. As National Chairman, he said, he has to stay neutral so he can bring members back together once the elections are over, whoever wins.
“Everybody in the NDC is my friend and family member,” he said. Naming some people as friends, he explained, would amount to treating the rest as enemies.
He had a message for those who lose. A defeat, he said, does not mean the party has turned its back on them, because only one person can hold a position at a time. He encouraged unsuccessful aspirants to remain committed to the NDC, adding that other opportunities to serve could come their way later.
He also asked delegates to let the best candidates come through, and appealed to every aspirant to accept the results in good faith. For him, the manner of winning and the effort to rebuild the party afterwards count for more than the winner’s name.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah said he is confident the NDC will come out of the exercise stronger if members stay united once the results are declared.
