“BRA K KNOWS FOOTBALL:” Junior Khanye Makes Unexpected Claims About Chiefs’ Struggles

Junior Khanye Makes Bold Kaizer Chiefs Claim: ‘That’s Where the Problems Started’

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has weighed in on the club’s ongoing challenges, suggesting that chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung’s reduced involvement in the day-to-day running of the club may have contributed to Amakhosi’s struggles.

Khanye believes that Motaung’s presence and football knowledge played an important role in the club’s operations, arguing that his decision to step back marked a significant turning point for the Soweto giants.

“I think Bra K not being involved and stepping back is where problems started because Bra K knows football,” Khanye said.

The former Chiefs player’s comments have reignited the debate surrounding the club’s leadership, management structure and the factors behind its difficulties in recent seasons.

For decades, Motaung has been a central figure at Kaizer Chiefs, overseeing the club’s development into one of South Africa’s most recognisable football institutions. His experience and influence have made him an important part of the club’s identity.

However, Chiefs have faced sustained pressure from supporters to restore the team to its former glory, with questions frequently raised about recruitment, coaching appointments, consistency and the club’s overall football direction.

Khanye’s remarks suggest that leadership involvement and football decision-making deserve closer scrutiny as Amakhosi seek to rebuild and compete for major honours.

While his assessment reflects his personal view, it adds another perspective to the wider discussion about what needs to change at Naturena for Chiefs to return to the top of South African football.

Ultimately, the challenge facing Amakhosi is to find the right combination of leadership, recruitment and technical direction to deliver the success their passionate supporters continue to demand.
