Enyimba Roar To First Win, Rangers Bounce Back In NPFL
Enyimba finally secured their first victory of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season on Wednesday, while Enugu Rangers bounced back from their weekend defeat to Ikorodu City with a narrow win over Warri Wolves.
Enyimba produced an emphatic 4-2 victory over Shooting Stars to end their difficult start to the campaign and claim their first three points of the season.
The Aba giants had endured a winless opening six matches before Wednesday’s encounter, but responded with a six-goal thriller to revive their campaign.
Rangers also returned to winning ways, defeating Warri Wolves 1-0 away from home.
The Flying Antelopes were beaten 2-0 by Ikorodu City on Sunday but recovered quickly to claim maximum points in Warri and put that setback behind them.
In Lagos, Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu City played out a goalless draw, with neither side able to find the breakthrough in a closely contested encounter.
The draw saw Ikorodu City follow up their impressive victory over Rangers with another unbeaten outing, while Sporting Lagos settled for a share of the points.
At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United and Rivers United also shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw.
The result ensured both sides added a point to their respective tallies as the race for early-season positions continues to take shape.
Wednesday’s results further intensified the competition in the NPFL, with Enyimba’s first win providing a major boost to the former champions, while Rangers’ victory restored momentum after their disappointing weekend result.
