Kaizer Chiefs Hope TS Galaxy Victory Marks Turning Point Under Fernando da Cruz

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz will be hoping that his team’s 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup marks a turning point in their season after a period of disappointing results.

Amakhosi delivered an impressive performance at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, securing qualification for the quarter-finals and giving their supporters renewed hope ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

The victory was powered by Wandile Duba, who scored three goals in an 18-minute spell during the second half. The forward opened the scoring in the 48th minute before adding two more goals in the 62nd and 66th minutes to complete his hat-trick.

Duba’s performance provided the attacking contribution Chiefs needed to secure a comfortable win. His finishing also highlighted the team’s ability to create and convert scoring opportunities when the players perform with confidence.

For Da Cruz, the result came at an important time. Chiefs had experienced a difficult spell, including their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, increasing the need for a positive response in domestic competition.

The victory over TS Galaxy offered the coach an opportunity to restore confidence within the squad. However, maintaining that momentum will be the next challenge as Chiefs attempt to produce more consistent performances.

Da Cruz will also be aware that one victory cannot automatically resolve every problem facing the team. Improving their overall consistency, maintaining defensive discipline and making effective use of scoring opportunities will remain important as the season progresses.

Attention will now turn to the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, which presents Chiefs with another demanding test. The match is particularly important because of the rivalry between the two clubs and the expectations of their supporters.

A strong performance against Pirates could provide further encouragement for Da Cruz and his players as they seek to rebuild momentum.

For now, the victory over TS Galaxy has given Amakhosi a positive result to build on, but their upcoming performances will determine whether it becomes a genuine turning point in their campaign.
