Buffaloes Clinch 10th Straight Judo Title

Green Buffaloes Judo Club have been crowned winners of the 2026 Japanese Ambassador’s Judo Tournament, extending their dominance with a 10th consecutive title.

Buffaloes minted a total of 38 medals — 23 gold, 12 silver, and three bronze — to secure the championship.

Nkwazi Judo Club finished second with 18 medals, while Ippon Judo Club came third among the 13 clubs that took part in the tournament, which attracted 313 judokas.

Speaking after the triumph, Buffaloes Head Coach Saidi Kabambe credited the team’s dominance to resilience and continuous improvement. He declared Buffaloes the club to beat and encouraged families to introduce their children to the sport.

Ippon Judo Club Captain Barbra Seulu said her team trained hard to secure bronze, while Judoka Chimwemwe Zimba, who won gold in the minus‑60kg senior category, expressed joy at finally clinching a medal after years of competing in the event.
