Malawi repatriates 50 Ethiopians
Malawi has repatriated 50 Ethiopian nationals through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe as authorities step up efforts to promote orderly migration.
The Immigration Department says the group, which included 20 minors, had been detained at Maula Prison before being repatriated.
Immigration Department spokesperson Pasqually Zulu told MIJ Online that the repatriation was conducted with support from the European Union and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Zulu said the exercise forms part of government efforts to ensure orderly migration and facilitate the return of foreign nationals to their countries of origin.
The department has not provided further details on the circumstances that led to the detention of the 50 Ethiopians.
