FNB rolls out 42 speedpoints at magistrates’ courts

FNB Namibia has partnered with the Office of the Judiciary to modernise payment services at Magistrates’ Courts through the roll-out of Speedpoint devices.
The initiative, officially launched on Thursday, saw the handover of 42 devices aimed at providing court users and members of the public with secure and convenient electronic payment options for court-related payments.
Chief Justice Peter Shivute said the facilities would make it easier for members of the public to settle court-related payments electronically.
“The POS facilities enable customers to make payments using available electronic payment methods, including card and contactless functionality and FNB-supported digital payment channels. The initiative is particularly beneficial to members of the public who previously had to travel significant distances to access banking or court payment facilities,” said Shivute.
FNB Namibia head of public sector banking Bolle Hans said the bank was honoured to support an initiative that uses technology to address a practical need.
“At FNB, we have deep respect for the rule of law and for the institutions entrusted with upholding it. We value the opportunity to work with the Office of the Judiciary on an improvement it identified, using our payments capability to help deliver it,” said Hans.
The speedpoint devices will allow court users to make electronic payments at Magistrates’ Courts, providing an alternative to traditional payment methods and supporting more efficient payment processes.
Shivute described the roll-out as “evidence of the value of partnerships between public institutions and private-sector organisations in addressing practical service-delivery challenges”.
Hans added: “For FNB, this partnership is an opportunity to put our payments capability to use where it can serve a public institution. Our responsibility is to provide a reliable solution and to support the Judiciary’s teams as it becomes part of the Courts’ daily operations.”
The launch included a live demonstration of a speedpoint transaction, with the roll-out expected to improve accessibility and convenience for members of the public while supporting the judiciary’s broader digital transformation and service-delivery objectives.
