SHC gives occupants of its lands 21 days to regularise interests

The State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has commenced a nationwide audit and recovery exercise covering its lands and properties.

The exercise, announced in a public notice dated Thursday, September 24, 2026, targets individuals and entities occupying or dealing with SHC properties without valid authority.

According to the company, the exercise covers persons occupying SHC land without lawful authority, encroaching on its lands, or whose leases and other interests in the properties have expired.

It will also cover individuals developing or occupying SHC property without the required approvals, as well as those who have unlawfully assigned, sublet, transferred or otherwise dealt with SHC properties.

SHC has given all affected persons 21 days from the date of the notice to regularise their occupation or interest where legally permissible, apply for renewal of expired leases where applicable, or give vacant possession of the affected properties.

Affected persons have also been directed to present their relevant lease, allocation, payment and other supporting documents for verification.

The company warned that persons without valid and subsisting interests in SHC properties who fail to comply within the stipulated period may be subject to lawful recovery and other remedies available to the company under applicable law.

SHC has further cautioned the public against purchasing, leasing, developing or otherwise dealing with its lands without first verifying the status of the property and the authority of the person claiming to have the right to transact on it.

The exercise forms part of efforts by the State Housing Company to protect its land and property assets and regularise interests in its properties.
