859 Colts clubs currently active across Ghana, says GFA

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has revealed that 859 Colts clubs are currently active across the countrys ten football regions.The figure was announced by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku during the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday.The Ashanti Region has the highest number of active clubs with 245, followed by Greater Accra with 216.Brong Ahafo and Northern each have 98 clubs, while Central has 90 and Western has 50.Eastern has 26 clubs, Upper East 15, Upper West 11, and Volta 10.Okraku said the figures reflect the growing reach of Colts football and its importance to communities across the country.These figures tell us something important. Colts football is not Accra football. Colts football is not Kumasi football. Colts football is Ghana football, he said.He added that the system belongs to every region, district and community and should provide opportunities for young players wherever they are located.The GFA revived and restructured the Colts football system in 2020 as part of efforts to rebuild the pathway from grassroots football to elite development, professional football and the national teams.The 2026/27 season marks the sixth consecutive season since the system was brought back.
