Obasanjo, Charly Boy Share Lighthearted Moment At London Bus Stop
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Fada, have shared another playful exchange, with their longstanding familiarity evident in videos from London.
The relationship between the two has often been marked by Obasanjo’s teasing references to the entertainer. He has described Charly Boy as a “jagajaga boy” while also acknowledging him as a good person and speaking warmly about his late father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, and his mother.
That familiar banter was on display again during the London launch of Charly Boy’s book, 999. In one of the videos from the event, Obasanjo jokingly throws a series of colourful descriptions at the entertainer, including “thief”, “barawo”, “drug addict” and “ashawo”.
Charly Boy later shared the footage on social media, reacting humorously to the former president’s comments.
“Oh my God. Why is my Daddy Always Spoiling my beautiful reputation, bikonu,” he wrote.
The two were also filmed having a light-hearted encounter at a London bus stop. Obasanjo, who was accompanied by members of his team, spotted Charly Boy seated there.
Charly Boy appeared to invite the former president to sit with him, but Obasanjo playfully insisted on receiving a proper greeting first. The entertainer subsequently prostrated before him, after which Obasanjo joined him on the seat.
The exchanges offered another glimpse into the informal relationship between the former president and the entertainer, whose interactions have frequently been characterised by humour and familiarity.
