Government sets 2026/27 cocoa producer price at GH¢2,650 per 64kg bag

The government has announced a new producer price of GH¢2,650 per 64-kilogramme bag of cocoa for the 2026/2027 crop season.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Randy Abbey, announced the new price at a press briefing on Thursday, September 24.

The new price takes effect immediately and represents an increase from the GH¢2,587 per 64kg bag paid during the 2026 light crop season. The previous price translated to GH¢41,392 per tonne.

Dr Abbey said the new price was determined following consultations among key stakeholders in the cocoa sector.

The adjustment comes as COCOBOD implements reforms aimed at improving the financial sustainability of the cocoa sector while ensuring that farmers receive a significant share of the value of their produce.

The 2026/2027 season therefore begins with changes to cocoa pricing and financing arrangements as government seeks to support cocoa farmers and strengthen the financial sustainability of the sector.
