The Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), at the opening of its 61st edition on Monday, honoured Mozambique’s top exporters and investors who stood out in the market last year.
The awards were presented as part of FACIM, the country’s leading business and investment promotion platform, bringing together national and foreign companies to promote business, exports and investment opportunities in Mozambique.
In the category of largest exporter to major projects, the award went to Mozambique Rovuma Venture.
In the agricultural sector, Mozambique Leaf Tobacco took first place, followed by Tongaat Hulett in second and João Ferreira dos Santos in third.
In the fisheries sector, Pesca Mar, Limitada was recognised as the largest exporter, while Vita Pesca, Limitada came second and Marbeira Sociedade de Pescas third.
In the mining sector, JSPL Mozambique Minerals took first place, followed by Minas de Benga and Rubiman, Limitada.
In the category of largest exporting SME, Sociedade Algodoeira de Namialo led the agricultural sector, with Sociedade Algodoeira de Mutuáli in second place and Belúzi Bananas, Limitada in third.
In the fisheries sector, Prapesca Companhia de Pesca took first place, followed by Aquapesca, Limitada and Pesca Bom.
In the mining sector, Helin Mining Co., Ltd. took first place, while RT Recursos de Tantalite, Ltd. came second.
The ceremony also recognised companies for their performance in preferential markets:
SADC: Sasol Petroleum Temane, Limitada
South Africa: Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB)
Malawi: Cimentos de Moçambique
Zimbabwe: Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM)
European Union (EU): Mozal
United Kingdom: Midal Cables
United States: Kenmare
China: TZM Resources S.A.
India: Vulcan Mozambique S.A.
Largest investors
Among the largest investors, Agricultural and Ecological System International was the winner in the agricultural sector, while Beira Iron & Steel Company was recognised in the industrial sector.
In the energy sector, the award went to Vulcan Central Termoeléctrica de Moatize.
Baía dos Coqueiros Moçambique was recognised as the largest investor in the tourism sector.
