Morocco’s U.S. aerospace imports top $1 billion, up 35% in seven months

Morocco imported more than $1 billion worth of advanced aerospace products from the United States in the first seven months of 2026, as the kingdom continues to expand its aviation industry and modernize its military capabilities.

U.S. exports of aerospace advanced technology products to Morocco reached $1.006 billion between January and July, up 35% from the same period last year, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The July figure alone stood at $148 million.

The increase comes as Morocco strengthens its position as both a growing buyer and manufacturer in the aerospace sector.
Morocco has spent recent years expanding its aviation industry, attracting major international manufacturers and developing local production of aircraft components.

Morocco has also deepened its defense relationship with the United States as it modernizes the Royal Moroccan Air Force.
The country operates U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets and has continued investing in equipment and infrastructure linked to its military aviation capabilities.

In August, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded CAE Inc. a contract worth up to $42.1 million to provide Morocco with two advanced F-16 flight simulators and related technical and logistics support. The simulators will be installed at Sidi Slimane Air Base, with the project expected to be completed by April 2029.

The U.S. trade category used for the figures covers a range of aerospace products, including new civilian and military aircraft and helicopters, jet engines, flight simulators and autopilot systems. Weapons and missiles are counted separately and are not included in these figures.

Morocco has also developed a major aerospace manufacturing industry, with international companies producing aircraft parts for global manufacturers. Safran, for example, has several sites in Morocco making electrical wiring systems, aircraft engine components and other equipment for companies including Airbus and Boeing.
