Alhaji Muhammad Bello Aliyu Goronyo, the factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State under the Tanimu Turaki-led camp, has resigned his membership of the party.
Goronyo announced his resignation in a letter dated August 30, 2026 and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Goronyo Ward, Goronyo Local Government Area.
He said the resignation would take effect from August 31, 2026, attributing his decision to personal reasons.
“I hereby formally notify you of my intention to resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Goronyo Ward, Goronyo Local Government Area, effective from today, 31st August, 2026. The reason for my resignation is purely personal.”
He thanked the party leadership and members for the opportunity to serve and for the experiences he gained during his period of membership.
“I wish to thank the party leadership and members for the opportunity to serve and for the experiences gained during my period of membership.”
Goronyo also requested that the letter be accepted as formal notice of his resignation and that his name be removed from the party’s membership register.
His resignation is coming amid leadership crisis and factionalisation within the PDP in Sokoto State.
