Northern Region edged Greater Accra Region 2-1 in an entertaining Group encounter, with Baba scoring both of his sides goals.
The forward broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, giving Northern Region a deserved advantage as the contest moved into its later stages. His second goal arrived in the 68th minute, doubling the lead and putting Northern Region in a strong position to claim all three points.
Greater Accra responded with determination and reduced the deficit through Adjei Dennis in the 78th minute. The goal created the prospect of a late fightback, but Northern Region defended their advantage to complete a hard-earned victory.
Babas two-goal contribution made him the central figure in Northern Regions success. However, the Most Valuable Player award went to Greater Accras Juresh Nassara Alhassan, despite his team finishing on the losing side, in recognition of his individual display.
Ibrahim inspires Brong Ahafo
Brong Ahafo Region produced the most emphatic result of the day, defeating Upper East Region 3-0 in the final fixture.
Evans Ibrahim led the performance with two goals and immediately set Brong Ahafo on course for victory. He opened the scoring in the 14th minute, giving his team an early lead and establishing the pattern for a dominant display.
Ernest Adjei extended Brong Ahafos advantage in the 37th minute. The second goal further strengthened their control before Ibrahim struck again eight minutes after the interval.
His goal in the 53rd minute completed his brace and confirmed a convincing 3-0 success for Brong Ahafo Region. Ibrahims contribution earned him the Most Valuable Player award and capped an outstanding day for the youngster and his team.
The two results highlighted the quality of emerging players competing in the MTN Elite U-19 Championship, with Baba and Ibrahim making the biggest impact in their respective matches.
