Ipswich Town – Abdul Fatawu called up by Ghana for AFCON qualifiers

Carlos Quieroz’s side face a home game against Gabon (Friday, September 25th) and a trip to Lesotho (Tuesday, September 29th) as they start their campaign, before a friendly clash against Morocco (Sunday, October 4th).

The final match of the three could see Fatawu face Blues team-mate Issa Diop in Tangiers, just days before the pair return to Suffolk ahead of Town’s game at home to Fulham.

Fatawu, who signed for Ipswich from Leicester over the summer, has 32 senior caps for Ghana to his name, scoring three times since his debut in 2021.

He becomes the eighth member of Ipswich’s first-team squad to receive an international call-up. Julio Enciso (Paraguay) is expected to join them, while Anis Mehmeti (Albania) is due to find out about his involvement tomorrow morning.
