The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has called on stakeholders to actively contribute their technical expertise to the development of its Strategic Plan rather than merely endorsing the document.
Director of Administration in the Ministry, Gloria Sanders, made the call on Tuesday in Lilongwe when she officially opened a stakeholders’ validation workshop for the Ministry’s Strategic Plan.
Sanders said the validation meeting provided an important opportunity for stakeholders to critically review the proposed strategic direction and provide technical input that would strengthen the final document.
“We are calling upon you to come with your technical expertise and help us enrich this Strategic Plan. We do not want you to be spectators or simply endorse the document. We want your meaningful input,” she said.
She said the Strategic Plan was therefore being developed through a consultative process to ensure that it reflected the realities, priorities and expectations of the sector.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of ERIS Properties MW Limited, Washington Chimuzu, commended the Ministry for undertaking the Strategic Plan, saying the document would provide a clear roadmap for achieving its aspirations and strengthening coordination within the land, housing and urban development sector.
“As ERIS Properties, we commend the Ministry for taking this important step towards developing a Strategic Plan. We believe that having a clear strategic direction will help guide the Ministry’s priorities, strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and contribute to sustainable development in Malawi. We are pleased to support this process and encourage all stakeholders to actively contribute to making the Strategic Plan a practical and effective roadmap for the sector,” said Chimuzu.
