GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto ‘Surprised and Disappointed’ by Abeiku Santana’s Petition

Maame Efua Houadjeto, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has expressed surprise and disappointment in response to a petition filed by her deputy, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, over difficulties in accessing her for consultations on urgent operational matters.

In her response, dated October 24, 2026, the GTA CEO made clear that she found the petition unexpected and troubling, particularly given the working relationship between the two officials. Nevertheless, she chose to respond constructively rather than dismissively, proposing measures to improve communication and coordination within the Authority’s executive management.

The CEO’s reaction suggests that she was taken aback by the formal nature of her deputy’s complaint, which brought internal operational concerns into the public domain. Despite her disappointment, she acknowledged the need to address the underlying issues raised and outlined steps to ensure timely consultations and more efficient decision-making within the Authority.

Maame Efua Houadjeto’s proposed measures are aimed at strengthening the channels of communication between her office and her deputies, thereby reducing delays in addressing urgent operational matters. Her response indicates a willingness to resolve the matter amicably and to prevent similar concerns from arising in the future.

The petition by Abeiku Santana, a well-known media personality and tourism advocate, had drawn considerable attention within the tourism sector, given the prominence of both officials. The CEO’s reply is expected to shape the narrative around the internal dynamics of the GTA’s leadership.

By expressing her surprise and disappointment while still offering practical solutions, Maame Efua Houadjeto has signaled her commitment to maintaining harmony within the Authority and ensuring that its executive management operates effectively. The focus now shifts to whether the proposed communication measures will be implemented and whether they will address the concerns raised by her deputy.

The development underscores the importance of clear internal communication in public institutions and the need for leadership to respond to staff concerns in a manner that promotes unity and efficiency.
