The Kano State Multi-Agency Special Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has arrested at least 70 people, including young men and women, suspected of engaging in drug abuse.
The government, through its newly inaugurated agency, has also identified several hotspots and begun conducting midnight raids.
Led by its Chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, the task force, comprising police, DSS, NDLEA, and other paramilitary agencies, carried out the midnight raids.
In the Gandun Albasa and Kasuwar Rimi areas, more than 30 suspects were arrested.
From the Fagge axis, the task force proceeded to the railway areas, where more than 30 young men and women were found allegedly abusing substances.
The Kano State Government said it is targeting 10,000 drug abusers, illicit traffickers, and thugs for removal from the streets, rehabilitation, skills training, and support.
