Ruben Amorim namedrops Man Utd after 3-0 win, he's finally addressing his biggest weakness

Ruben Amorim couldn’t help but mention Manchester United after leading AC Milan to a comfortable victory.

On the same day as Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, former Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim led a dominant 3-0 victory over in Italy.

Amorim’s AC Milan side are now up to fifth in the table and just two points away from the league leaders.

There was plenty of mistakes made by Amorim during his time at Old Trafford, but his latest comments suggest he is finally learning and adapting.

Time and time again, Amorim insisted he was sticking with his 3-4-3 formation at United, regardless of results.

Amorim was willing to ‘suffer’ through a period of poor results in order for United players to learn his system.

However, at Milan, it seems Amorim has learned from his mistakes. In the 3-0 win over Lecce, Amorim’s side switched between a back three and a back four.

In his post-match comments, Amorim said: “Of course I listen to the players. But in the end, it’s always my decision.

“Every player will naturally push the game towards their own characteristics.

“I felt the same thing at Manchester United — and I cannot make the same mistake.”

As a result of Carrick’s poor start to the season with United, he is quickly coming under pressure and criticism for the first time at Old Trafford.

While pressure builds on Carrick, a portion of the fanbase has began looking back at Amorim’s tenure.

Amorim was proven right about academy entitlement, or at least through JJ Gabriel’s requested exit.

On top of that, Amorim’s concerns about physicality, intensity and energy have re-emerged after the dismal 1-1 draw to Fulham.

It is dangerous to look back and compare, as Carrick still deserves time and patience to turn things around at Old Trafford. But Amorim’s growth and improvement in Italy won’t do him any favours.
