President El-Sisi Chairs National Defense Council Meeting

This morning, at Al-Ittihadia Palace, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired a meeting of the National Defense Council. The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; the Prime Minister; the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production; the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; the Ministers of Interior and Finance; as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates; the Director of the General Intelligence Service; the Commanders of the Main Branches of the Armed Forces; the Chief of the Armed Forces Operations Authority; the Chief of Military Intelligence; in addition to the Secretary-General of the National Defense Council.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the National Defense Council reviewed the current regional developments and the grave escalations unfolding in the region, particularly in light of the escalating and unacceptable attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Accordingly, the Council resolved the following:

1- Expressing full support and complete solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stemming from the historical ties and solid bonds that unite the peoples of both brotherly nations as the heart of the Arab nation, and grounded in firm belief that Saudi national security is inextricably intertwined to Egyptian and Arab national security.

2- Extending all necessary and possible forms of support to the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, and to safeguard its resources, territorial integrity, and Islamic holy sites.

3- Continuing and intensifying political and diplomatic efforts, in coordination with relevant regional and international parties, to contribute to de-escalating tensions across the entire region and achieving peaceful resolutions to ongoing regional crises.
