Minister Tells Black Challenge: Carrying Ghana’s Flag Means the Whole Nation Stands With You

Eric Opoku, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, has told Ghana’s amputee football team, the Black Challenge, that bearing the national flag at the 2026 Amputee World Cup carries the weight of the entire country’s support. In his message to the squad, the Minister stressed that their presence at the tournament is a symbol of national backing, making clear that Ghanaians everywhere are firmly behind them.

His remarks frame the team’s participation as more than a sporting endeavour. According to Mr. Opoku, when the players hold aloft the flag of Ghana on the world stage, they do so not as individuals but as representatives of the whole nation. Their presence at the competition, he indicated, is proof that the country is united in its encouragement and goodwill towards them.

The Minister’s statement serves as both a morale boost and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with wearing the national colours. He urged the team to see themselves as ambassadors of Ghana, carrying the hopes and pride of citizens into every match they play.

Mr. Opoku’s message also underscores the government’s recognition of the Black Challenge’s efforts and the significance of their appearance at the 2026 Amputee World Cup. By declaring that the whole nation is behind the team, he sought to reassure the players that their sacrifice and preparation have not gone unnoticed and that their countrymen will be cheering them on.

The comments reflect a broader sentiment that the team’s participation is a source of national pride, with the Minister’s words intended to inspire the players to give their best as they compete under Ghana’s flag.
