Orlando Pirates fan favourite could return to action this week

Orlando Pirates fans are eagerly awaiting the return of midfielder Kabelo Dlamini to the team.

The 30-year-old playmaker has not featured at all this season after being sidelined by injury.

Last week, Dlamini was spotted training with his teammates, exciting many Bucs supporters who have been waiting to see him back in action.

The midfielder has struggled for regular game time over the past 18 months and was even linked with a possible exit from the club around June.

His return, however, now appears to be imminent after he resumed training with the first team and is believed to have regained full fitness.

Why Dlamini could feature for Orlando Pirates soon

Despite Orlando Pirates signing five midfielders during the transfer window, Dlamini could still have an important role to play, particularly in the attacking midfield position.

With Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng no longer at the club, there is an opportunity for Dlamini to operate in the number 10 role.

As an attacking midfielder, Dlamini can provide quality service to the wingers and striker while adding creativity to the Buccaneers’ attack. His ability to pick out passes in the final third could give Pirates another dimension going forward.

Dlamini is also a set-piece specialist. His dangerous left foot could prove particularly valuable from free-kicks and other dead-ball situations, especially with Orlando Pirates competing in the CAF Champions League this season.

The Buccaneers host Durban City on Thursday, and there is a possibility that Dlamini could make his long-awaited return.

He may not be ready to start the match, but even a brief cameo could be beneficial as he continues to regain his match fitness.

With the Sea Robbers facing a demanding season across multiple competitions, having Dlamini back in the squad could give the club another valuable attacking option.
