Funke Akindele Sends Inspiring Message to Young Filmmakers as New Movie Makes History in UK

According to report by The Nation on Monday, November 2, 2026, Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has encouraged young and aspiring filmmakers to remain committed to their dreams, saying perseverance and dedication can open doors to greater opportunities.

Akindele gave the advice while celebrating a major milestone involving her forthcoming movie, The Four: No One Fights Alone.

The film is scheduled to premiere in the United Kingdom on November 29 at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London.

The premiere will make the movie the first Nollywood production to debut at the prestigious 791-seat cinema, marking another significant achievement for the Nigerian film industry on the international stage.

Sharing the development on X on Monday, Akindele expressed excitement over the milestone but said her greatest satisfaction comes from knowing that her career can inspire younger creatives.

According to her, she wants upcoming filmmakers to look at her journey and believe that they can also succeed in the industry.

She urged aspiring Nollywood filmmakers not to abandon their ambitions, stressing that the efforts of established creatives could help create opportunities for the next generation to tell their own stories and reach wider audiences.

Akindele described the UK premiere as the result of consistent hard work and commitment, while noting that the achievement represents only the beginning of what the Nigerian film industry can accomplish globally.

She also expressed optimism about the future of Nollywood and said she was looking forward to achieving more milestones collectively with other industry stakeholders.

The filmmaker extended her appreciation to the cast and crew of The Four, as well as her fans and supporters, for their encouragement and continued belief in the project.

Following its international premiere, The Four: No One Fights Alone is expected to hit cinemas across Nigeria on December 11.

The latest achievement further highlights Akindele’s growing influence as both an actress and filmmaker and her efforts to promote Nigerian stories to audiences beyond the country.
