Zim to host SADC anti-corruption expo games

ZIMBABWE will host the Sadc Anti-Corruption Expo and Games in Victoria Falls from September 17 – 19, bringing together more than 800 anti-corruption officers from eight member states.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) said the three-day event will be officially opened by Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga on September 17, 2026 and will run under the theme, “Scaling Up Integrity Actions Across Sadc”.

ZACC chairperson Mr Michael Reza said the expo and games were designed to strengthen regional cooperation in the fight against corruption, while promoting the sharing of innovative strategies and best practices.

The programme will begin with a cultural showcasing session on September 17, followed by sporting activities and an anti-corruption exhibition on September 18 at Chinotimba Stadium.

The games will feature volleyball for men and women, soccer and netball, with ZACC saying the sporting activities were intended to promote camaraderie, networking and team spirit among anti-corruption practitioners.

“The exhibition seeks to facilitate the sharing of innovative anti-corruption strategies and best practices among Member States,” Mr Reza said.

An anti-corruption procession will precede the exhibition and games as part of efforts to raise awareness of the SADC Protocol Against Corruption and demonstrate regional cohesion.

To prepare for the event, ZACC has partnered with the Victoria Falls Municipality and other stakeholders on a legacy project that has resulted in the construction of two netball and two volleyball courts at Chinotimba Stadium.

Mr Reza said the project has transformed the stadium into a multi-disciplinary sporting facility while creating a lasting infrastructure asset for the Victoria Falls community and Matabeleland North Province.

“Hosting the Expo and Games reflects Zimbabwe’s commitment to the Sadc Protocol Against Corruption, the continental and global anti-corruption frameworks,” he said.

The frameworks include the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

Zimbabwe will also be seeking to build on its performance at last year’s edition held in Swakopmund, Namibia, where it won the best exhibitor award and three silver medals in netball and volleyball.
