The Confederation of African Football (CAF) could reconsider its decision to stage the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) every four years, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The decision, which was announced in December 2025, may be reviewed at the next CAF Executive Committee meeting.
The proposed review could reopen discussions about the frequency of Africa’s flagship football competition, which has traditionally been held every two years.
CAF’s decision to move AFCON to a four-year cycle marked a significant change in the tournament’s scheduling structure.
However, the possibility of a review suggests that the continental football governing body could revisit the decision.
