“If Asiedu Nketiah Doesn’t Contest, There Will Be No Contest in NDC” — Mussa Dankwah

According to a report by TV3 Ghana on Saturday October 24, 2026, Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director Mussa Dankwah has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership race could become uncontested if the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, decides not to contest the position.

Mussa Dankwah made the observation while discussing the possible contenders and the state of the NDC’s internal leadership contest. His comments suggest that Asiedu Nketiah’s decision could play a major role in determining how competitive the race will be.

The NDC is expected to consider several factors as it prepares for its next presidential primary. The choice of a flagbearer will be important to the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections. The candidate selected will be expected to lead the party’s campaign and present its policies to Ghanaians.

According to Dankwah’s assessment, Asiedu Nketiah’s possible decision not to contest could significantly change the direction of the race. His participation could influence the level of competition among other potential candidates. However, if he decides to stay out of the contest, the dynamics of the race could be different.

Asiedu Nketiah is an influential figure within the NDC and has played an important role in the party’s leadership. His political experience and position as National Chairman make his future intentions a subject of interest among party members and political observers.

The NDC’s flagbearership race is expected to attract attention as the party considers who should lead it into the next general election. The outcome will have implications for the party’s internal unity, campaign strategy and efforts to secure electoral support.

However, Dankwah’s comments do not necessarily mean that the race will officially become uncontested. The final situation will depend on the decisions of Asiedu Nketiah and other potential aspirants, as well as the party’s established procedures for selecting its presidential candidate.

For now, attention remains on the possible contenders and the decisions they will make as the NDC prepares for its next major leadership contest.
