Clement Opoku Gyamfi touts experience, national exposure in NPP youth organiser race

New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser hopeful, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, has stated that his experience in public service and the corporate sector has prepared him to lead the party’s youth wing.

He said although the current contest is his first competitive party position, his previous service to the NPP and exposure across the country give him the experience needed to mobilise and engage young people.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Opoku Gyamfi said he had so far toured 15 of the 16 regions as part of his campaign.

He noted that his appointment as a District Chief Executive under former President Nana Akufo-Addo at a young age gave him national exposure and helped establish his credentials beyond his immediate political environment.

“I believe this being my first competitive party position is even an advantage for me. I have served the party and, at my young age, President Akufo-Addo appointed me to serve as District Chief Executive,” he said.

According to him, his appointment attracted national attention at the time, but he used the opportunity to work hard and demonstrate his capabilities.

He added that his experience in the corporate sector would also help him connect with professionals and mobilise support from outside the party’s traditional structures.

“I have also worked in the corporate environment, so I will be able to mobilise the corporate space. We need someone of my calibre because I speak their language. Professionally, it is easy for me to attract the professionals,” he said.

Mr Opoku Gyamfi stressed that the NPP needs a youth leader who can serve as a mentor and role model to young people, rather than one who focuses solely on party politics.

“We need a youth leader for all, not just NPP. He must be seen as a mentor and idol. If the young ones don’t see a mentor in you as a youth leader, then you have failed,” he said.

He said the party had invested significantly in his development and that his decision to contest the position was partly driven by a desire to give back through service.

“The party has invested so much in me and I need to deliver for the party,” he said.

Mr Opoku Gyamfi expressed confidence that he has the strategies required to strengthen the youth wing and contribute to the NPP’s efforts to return to power in 2028.

“I think I am the right person to serve at the youth wing. I am going to serve the party very well and they are not going to regret voting for me,” he said.

He said the youth wing requires clear direction and effective strategies to mobilise young people and support the party’s electoral objectives.

“We need the direction, and I have the strategies that will take us to victory in 2028. I won’t disappoint,” he added.
