The Black Princesses will be led by Sarah Nyarko at the FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup after the Dreamz Ladies midfielder was appointed captain by Ghanas technical team.
Nyarko has been selected to guide the team into the tournament by a coaching staff headed by Head Coach Charles Sampson. Her appointment recognises the role she has played throughout Ghanas qualification campaign, having featured in every qualifying match.
Diana Amoako has been named first vice-captain, while Esther Asamoah of Army Ladies will serve as second vice-captain. Together, the three players will form the leadership group for Ghanas campaign at the biennial competition.
The appointments come as the Black Princesses prepare to make their eighth consecutive appearance at the FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup. Ghana will begin their tournament against Ecuador on 6 September 2026.
They will then face Korea Republic and France in their remaining group fixtures.
Nyarkos elevation places responsibility on a midfielder who has been a consistent presence for the Black Princesses during their route to the finals. Her involvement in all of Ghanas qualifying matches has made her an important part of the side, and she will now represent the country as captain on the world stage.
Amoako and Asamoah will provide support in the vice-captaincy roles as the team seeks to make an impact in its eighth successive appearance at the global age-group tournament.
The leadership appointments were confirmed by the technical team ahead of the finals, with Sampson and his staff entrusting the captaincy to a trio drawn from Dreamz Ladies, Army Ladies and the wider Black Princesses squad.
Ghanas opening fixture against Ecuador on 6 September will be followed by matches against Korea Republic and France. Those three group games will determine the Black Princesses progress in the competition.
The Black Princesses participation continues Ghanas record of appearing at eight consecutive editions of the biennial FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup. With Nyarko as captain, Amoako as first vice-captain and Asamoah as second vice-captain, the team will enter the tournament with its leadership structure in place.
