Louis Saha names Man Utd’s best current attacking trio

Louis Saha doesn’t believe Manchester United’s best front three consists of Amad Diallo or Matheus Cunha.

Since the beginning of the 2026/27 season, Matheus Cunha has primarily led the line for Michael Carrick due to Benjamin Sesko’s long road to recovery from a shin injury. The Slovenian striker made his first start of the new campaign in United’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

With the pressure mounting on Carrick following a disappointing start for the Reds, questions are bound to be asked. His former United teammate Louis Saha is the latest to weigh in with his opinions on the team.

That includes Saha’s views on United’s best front three. Carrick has stuck with Marcus Rashford, Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for much of the season thus far.

Louis Saha’s verdict on Man Utd’s best attacking options

Saha spent four years at Old Trafford, arriving in January 2004 to make an immediate impact, scoring 7 goals in his first 12 Premier League appearances. The former France international won four trophies as a United player, including two league titles, the Champions League, and the League Cup.

As a prolific striker for many years in the Premier League – at Fulham, United, and Everton – Saha’s views on attacking players carry weight, so we paid attention when he shared his opinion on Carrick’s best attacking trio.

When asked to name United’s best front three based on current squad members, Saha told Betano Sports Betting Site: “Marcus Rashford, Benjamin Sesko and probably Bryan Mbeumo over Amad Diallo, probably because of his age and his better record for scoring goals.

“Amad has the ability to play like a proper winger but also a kind of playmaker, so he can come in and do other things on that side of the pitch to make Manchester United very unpredictable, and I really like that.

“However, Mbeumo is a bit more direct, and when United don’t have a midfield that can break the lines, I think you need that directness from Mbeumo to go and score goals. Marcus Rashford can do that too.”

This also means Saha doesn’t see any place for Cunha in United’s best front three, which raises the question about whether he will warrant a starting place in the team for the biggest games, which he happened to shine in during his debut campaign.
