
Ghana international Inaki Williams provided an assist on Sunday night as Athletic Club secured their first victory of the 2026/27 La Liga campaign with a 2-0 win away to Celta Vigo.The Black Stars forward started the Week 3 encounter at the Estadio de Balados and played an important role as Athletic Club produced a strong performance on the road.The result gives the Basque side a much-needed first win of the new league campaign, after enduring back-to-back defeats in their first two outings.On the matchday, Athletic Club created the first clear opportunity when Aymeric Laporte met a cross inside the area in the 19th minute, but his header went narrowly over the crossbar.The visitors took the lead one minute later. Alex Berenguer received a pass from Inaki Williams, weaved past opponents and produced an excellent finish inside the right post.Athletic Club quickly doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute, with Robert Navarro equalising to increase the advantage for his side.The two-goal advantage gave Athletic Club control of the contest and put Celta under pressure to find a response.The hosts pushed forward after the interval and came close to reducing the deficit in the 59th minute.Carl Starfelt rose highest to meet a corner inside the Athletic Club penalty area, but his header narrowly missed the left post.Celta continued to search for a route back into the match, but Athletic Club's defence remained firm to amass all three points at the end of the 90 minutes.The victory will boost the confidence of Inaki Williams and his Athletic Club teammates heading into upcoming matches.
