HAPPENING NOW: Fireworks in Kwale As Sifuna Lectures Ruto Badly “Ruto, Hatutaki Ukora” Amid Rift

Edwin Sifuna has launched a fresh attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of using government contracts to intimidate Kenyans and silence those who question his leadership.

Speaking on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the Linda Mwananchi Movement leader declared that Kenyans would not be intimidated into supporting the government, insisting that public contracts should not be used as a tool to demand political loyalty.

In his remarks, Sifuna directly addressed the president, arguing that the alleged practice of awarding contracts to individuals before expecting them to support the government was unacceptable.

“Ruto, hatutaki ukora,” Sifuna declared, making it clear that Kenyans would not tolerate what he described as questionable dealings.

He further suggested that the government expected beneficiaries of contracts to remain politically loyal, leaving them vulnerable to pressure whenever they expressed views contrary to the administration’s position.

Sifuna also criticised what he portrayed as an attempt to intimidate Kenyans by suggesting that they could not challenge the president because he controlled the country’s leadership.

The Nairobi senator’s remarks come amid heightened political activity as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna has increasingly emerged as a prominent voice in the Linda Mwananchi political movement, which has attracted attention for its criticism of the current administration and calls for greater accountability.

His latest comments are likely to intensify the political debate surrounding government accountability, public procurement and the relationship between political loyalty and access to state opportunities.

The remarks also underscore the growing confrontation between Ruto’s administration and opposition figures seeking to mobilise Kenyans ahead of the next election.

However, the specific claims about government contracts and political intimidation would require further evidence or an official response from the government.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Sifuna’s message signals that the battle over governance, accountability and political freedom is likely to remain at the centre of Kenya’s political debate.
