Black Maidens Reach U-17 World Cup Round Of 16

The team celebrates qualifying

Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has expressed pride in his players after Ghana secured a place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Canada.

Adarkwa said the team was delighted to achieve its target, praising the players for delivering the result they had worked towards.

The coach also commended his technical team, highlighting the impact of their second-half substitutions in helping Ghana secure the victory.

He acknowledged that the next stage would present a tougher challenge, with the Black Maidens set to face Argentina on October 28.

Adarkwa said the team would prepare thoroughly for the encounter as they look to maintain their progress in the competition.

Ghana finished the group stage with four points after losing 3-0 to Norway, drawing 3-3 with Brazil and defeating Canada 2-0 to book their place in the knockout stage.

Argentina, who topped their group with an impressive campaign, will provide a stern test for the Maidens, but Ghana will head into the encounter full of confidence after their spirited recovery in the group phase.
