The Ghana Premier League champions scored once in each half, with defender Fatawu Sulemana opening the scoring from the penalty spot before winger Emmanuel Annor completed the victory after the interval.
Medeama started the match with confidence and established control during the early stages. Their pressure was rewarded when Sulemana stepped up to convert a penalty, giving the Mauve and Yellow a deserved lead.
Nations FC were unable to find a response before half-time, while Medeama continued to display the quality that secured them the Ghana Premier League title.
The champions extended their advantage after the break through Annor, who scored against his former club. The winger showed composure in front of goal, lifting a precise lob over the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
The result gives Medeama their first piece of silverware ahead of the new domestic campaign and provides an important boost before a demanding season that will include continental football.
The Champion of Champions traditionally brings together the winners of the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup. It is regarded as the symbolic curtain-raiser to the new domestic football season.
The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to begin over the weekend of 4-7 September 2026.
Medeamas immediate focus, however, will be on the CAF Champions League rather than their opening domestic fixture. They are due to host DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the first leg of their preliminary-round tie on Sunday, 6 September 2026.
The Ghanaian champions will look to carry the confidence from their victory over Nations FC into that continental assignment at TNA Stadium.
Nations FC also have a continental fixture to prepare for. They will travel to Bamako, Mali, to face FC Diarra in the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday, 5 September 2026.
That match will be played at Stade Mamadou Konate as Nations FC begin their own campaign on the continental stage.
Medeamas success in the Champion of Champions offers an early statement of intent as they prepare to defend their status among Ghanas leading clubs. Their two-goal victory also means they enter the new season with momentum, while Nations FC must quickly regroup before their trip to Mali.
