The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Sunday, said it discovered cocaine and heroin concealed in fireproof iron safe boxes during a raid on a notorious drug trafficking area in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
This is contained in a statement shared on its official X handle by the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.
Speaking on the discovery, Babafemi said the NDLEA operatives discovered the illicit drugs during a raid at the Abuja area of Port Harcourt, where suspected drug dealers were allegedly using iron safe boxes, traditionally meant for keeping valuables, to conceal high-value illicit drugs.

He said the boxes were being used to protect the drugs from theft and other forms of damage.
“Iron safe boxes are meant to preserve money, documents and jewellery against fire and theft, but NDLEA officers have discovered during a raid at the notorious Abuja area of Port Harcourt that drug dealers now stash high-value illicit drugs such as cocaine and heroin in the same fireproof iron boxes,” Babafemi stated.
He also shared footage showing where one of the safe boxes was discovered and opened during the operation.
