FKF Celebrates Three Kenyan Referees After Successful Assignment in Zimbabwe

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has praised three Kenyan referees after successfully officiating matches in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL), highlighting their growing influence in international football.

In a message shared on Thursday, October 29, the federation congratulated Peter Kamaku, Stephen Yiembe and Gilbert Cheruiyot for their impressive performance during their international assignment in the neighbouring country.

FKF commended the officials for representing Kenya professionally and delivering their duties successfully, noting that their involvement in foreign competitions demonstrates the increasing recognition of Kenyan referees across Africa.

“Congratulations to Peter Kamaku, Stephen Yiembe and Gilbert Cheruiyot for another international assignment well delivered in Zimbabwe’s PSL,” the federation stated.

The recognition comes at a time when Kenyan match officials are increasingly getting opportunities to officiate football matches beyond the country’s borders. Such assignments provide referees with valuable exposure and experience while allowing them to demonstrate their abilities on an international platform.

The federation further noted that the achievements of the three officials reflect positive progress in developing the quality of refereeing in Kenya.

“Kenyan referees continue to earn their place on the international stage, a sign that we are on the right track in developing quality match officials,” FKF added.

International assignments are important in strengthening the experience of referees, particularly in managing competitive matches involving different teams, playing styles and football environments.

For Kenya, the growing presence of its referees in foreign leagues is an encouraging development that could improve the country’s reputation in international football administration.

Although FKF did not reveal the specific matches handled by the three officials, its congratulatory message demonstrated satisfaction with their performance in Zimbabwe.

The federation’s recognition also serves as encouragement to other Kenyan referees seeking opportunities to officiate at continental and international levels.
